Exciting and Easy Ways of Meeting New People Online

For as long as I can remember, I have been a little shy and awkward in social situations. This has made it difficult for me to make friends. I have a couple of friends at my job that I talk too and once in a while we go out for a bite to eat, but besides that, my social life isn't very active. To be honest, I'm starting to become tired of sitting at home by myself every weekend or going places all by myself. I would really like to meet some new people and begin building up a group of friends, so I have been looking into some of the online singles and networking sites.

Not that long ago, I wouldn't have even considered the idea of meeting new people online. But because computers and the Internet  have evolved into such a big part of everybody's lives, it has become an excellent way to form friendships and make connections through the web. The internet has become a convenient way to meet new people, and the stigma that used to associated with these kinds of relationships no longer exists.

Lately, I've been investigating the best places to make friends on the Internet, and I have found three excellent options for meeting new people online.

First, there are dating websites. These websites are great if you looking to find a potential love interests. You create a profile, post your pictures, and write about what your looking for in a significant other. Some of these dating websites are free to join, while others require a paid membership. Which ever way you go, this is a really good way to meet a lot of new people, so I'm going to register at a few of these sites to see how it goes.

Hobby-related message boards or discussion groups.  Both of these options are excellent ways of meeting new people online. Most of the message boards and discussion groups you join don't require a membership fee. They give you a chance  to talk with like-minded people who share your enthusiasm and passions. Do you like dogs? Then join a dog owners forum and exchange tips, photos, and stories about your favorite pooch. Do you love baseball? There are a lot of hardball groups where you can talk about your favorite team all season long.

Social networking websites like Facebook or MySpace. All of these social networking sites are free to join and a lot of fun to use. These sites make it very easy to make a whole lot of friends. Plus, social networking sites are great for reconnecting with old friends and classmates you haven't seen in years. I was able to find two of my friend I haven't seen in over 15 years using one of these sites

If your uncomfortable with social situations than meeting new people online is a lot easier than trying to doing so in person. I'm open to trying all these different ways of making friends, and fully expect my social circle to expand greatly in the near future!
